Music by The Piano Brothers

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Colleen Coulthard at Our Lady of the Rosary Hospital in Castor on August 18, 2016 at the age of 43 years.
Colleen will be forever missed by her parents Bob and Betty Coulthard; her maternal grandmother Lillian Blumhagen; uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
She was born April 17, 1973 in Red Deer, Alberta and spent her growing up years on the farm near Forestburg.  After graduating from Forestburg High School, Colleen moved to Stettler for a few years before settling in Castor until her passing.
At the age of 2 years Colleen was diagnosed with Cancer and was locked, unknowingly at the time, into a five year cancer research treatment protocol involving very invasive, intensive treatments.  As a result of the rigors of this protocol she suffered a lifetime of health issues with frequent medical interventions.  Despite her many struggles she made a successful life for herself, keeping busy with various jobs.
She became an accomplished horsewoman and enjoyed many years riding, training and showing horses with walls of ribbons and awards to her credit.  Colleen rode as a “robber” on Alberta Prairie Steam Train Tours which was so much fun for her.  Colleen cherished her horses and her cat Tee Cee and was so happy to lead an independent life.  We are so proud of her.
Special thanks to Irene Seth, incredible help-mate and supportive friend to Colleen and her parents right up until the end; also to Susan Taylor, long time neighbour and friend to Colleen.
Colleen was a source of strength to her parents as she faced her end with grace, dignity and acceptance, telling us everything was all right.
Cremation has taken place and a private gathering of friends and family will be held at a later date.  In memory of Colleen and to honour her love of animals, memorial donations may be made to the S.P.C.A

Truly sorry to hear of you loss. As she was so close to our own daughters age it touches close to home. We can not image what you are going through. You are in our thoughts and hope knowing others are thinking of you will help ease some of the pain.

My deepest sympathy to Bob, Betty, and Lilian in the untimely death of Colleen. She was a gentle kind soul who faced the challenges of many obstacles throughout her life, and yet got so much pleasure from her animals. She made and kept some good solid friends. I enjoyed visits with her over several years, and we always caught up on Grandma Lilian's life. She was always my reminder to never take good health for granted at any age. God Bless Colleen.

I am so sorry to hear the passing of a very sweet lady. She will be dearly missed, she use to call me all the time, but couldn't figured out why I hadn't heard from her. I found it hard to believe that she passed, my prayers and thoughts go out to everyone who loved her

Thought and prayers are with you at this time, keep your precious memories close and time will ease the pain. Loosing a child is so tragic, just remember she is in a better place now free of all pain and being reunited with those that have gone before.

I am so incredibly sorry for this late message, I just found out about Colleens passing. I have always continued to think of Colleen through out the years and wondered many times where she was and how she was doing. She was an extremely amazing person and I always knew how special she was. Our friendship through our early years in school was one that I always cherished. I truly regret not keeping in touch. Reading her obituary brought tears and smiles. To know that she found a career with horses definitely made me smile. Please know that you are all in my prayers.
